On October 9, 2021, the annual Lake Placid Classic Half Marathon and 10K will run for the 50th year. Technically last year was supposed to be its 50th year; due to COVID-19, like all other races, the race was postponed. The event continues to grow in both participation and popularity; continuing the event this year as a fall tradition in Lake Placid. The Classic maintains the mission of supporting our local youth, businesses, and the health of our community. The 100% not-for-profit race allocates the majority of the proceeds donated directly back to local youth organizations and community efforts that focus on supporting healthy lifestyles.

Previously the race provided a $9,500 donation to the Lake Placid/Wilmington Connecting Youth and Communities (CYC). CYC supports many local youth clubs and organizations who generously volunteer their time at aid stations, and around the course. $9,400 in donations to help close the opportunity gap for individuals not able to afford wellness activities offered by Adirondack Health. Help make this year the biggest year yet! To support this year's Lake Placid Classic, Our Local Youth and the Health of Everyone in our Community DONATE HERE

Adirondack Health Medical Fitness Center upholds the mission to create lasting lifestyle change in the community. That is why we offer scholarships to those who can't afford a membership. We are here for everyone. Some of our most dedicated members and the ones the Medical Fitness Center has made the most impact on are our scholarship members.

To help to continue this program forward, we are offering you the opportunity to support another's journey to better health. We are more than just a gym, we are a community.

SUMMER SOLSTICE SUNSET PADDLE

Our first Summer Solstice Sunset Paddle took place last Sunday evening. Thank you to Anna for leading this and to all of those who showed up and enjoyed paddling that evening.

"I love the facility, particularly the pool, and we also did the sunset paddle on Mirror Lake with Anna last night. It would be great for it to be a full-moon feature! "

During the month of June, our team of fitness coaches ran a fitness assessment program for the Tupper Lake School District employees. They did a fantastic job and had a lot of fun educating on fitness and establishing baselines. They will be following up with each employee at a later date to see how they are doing.
