"Practicing yoga regularly provides both physical and mental benefits by connecting the breath, body, and mind. Choosing a yoga class with an instructor you truly resonate with is essential for enhancing overall wellness. I’ve found that in Joan’s class. Joan creates a warm, welcoming, and nonjudgmental atmosphere where everyone feels safe and supported. She offers thoughtful modifications for all levels and brings deep knowledge and skill to her teaching. Through her classes, I’ve gained strength, flexibility, and—most importantly—inner peace."

"I’ve been attending Joan’s Yin Yoga class since the fitness center first opened, and it remains one of my absolute favorites! Joan is a passionate, patient, and professional instructor who creates an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone—whether it’s your first class or your hundredth.

She takes the time to check in with participants, demonstrate poses clearly, and describe what you should (or shouldn’t) be feeling. Joan is always available to offer gentle assistance, modifications, and the thoughtful use of props to help each person gain the most benefit from every pose.

The expected benefits I’ve experienced include improved stability, flexibility, posture, and strength. The unexpected benefits have been even more powerful—learning breathing and grounding techniques, using mantras to ease stress, calm my mind, and even help me fall back asleep.

I like to call this Thursday evening class “The Cherry on Top.” After a busy week, it allows me to release everything that’s built up and start fresh for Friday. The weekends are so much more enjoyable when you’re not carrying the weight of the week with you.

And beyond all that, I’ve gained wonderful friendships along the way."

Grateful and spoiled,

My name is Inger Curth, and I’ve been fortunate to attend several of Marci’s writing classes—with another one coming up this November!

These classes have been truly inspiring, creative, and wonderfully challenging. Marci consistently encourages us to think outside the box and dig deeper into our perceptions and feelings. Discussions flow freely, without any sense of negativity or judgment.

Marci has a remarkable gift for bringing people together, creating a synergy from our diverse opinions and experiences. Her class materials are always engaging and imaginative—incorporating poetry, collage, and various craft elements that spark creativity.

She gently nudges us to write and reflect, but never imposes a “right” way to do it. Marci gives us the freedom to be ourselves, and I know everyone in the group feels the same sense of support and openness.

I’m truly looking forward to the next class—and many more to come!
-Inger Curth

"I’ve been taking Marci’s Yoga, Qi Gong, and Zumba classes at the Medical Fitness Center for many years—and she is absolutely amazing! Marci has a wonderful gift for creating a true sense of community among participants. When someone new joins, she always takes the time to introduce herself and encourages everyone else to do the same.

Her classes are fun, challenging, and deeply relaxing. Since attending, I’ve become more flexible and stronger—both mentally and physically. Marci thoughtfully weaves poetry into savasana and pairs her classes with fabulous music that enhances the entire experience.

I cannot recommend her classes highly enough!"

When I first joined the Health Fitness Center, it was to swim laps. The pool was beautiful, the location was perfect, and I quickly found myself visiting multiple times a week—and loving it.

During one of my sister’s visits, I gave her a pass to work out with the equipment while I swam. As we were leaving, she noticed the chalkboard listing all the classes and pointed out Marci Wenn’s Qigong-Infused Yoga class. Knowing my interest in both yoga and Qigong, she suggested I give it a try. I had never been one to embrace group exercise classes, but I decided to sign up. That was in 2021—and since then, Marci and her classes have added not only an enhanced yoga and Qigong practice to my life but also a true element of joy.

Her classes allow you to move through poses at your own ability. There is never pressure or intimidation—you simply follow your body’s voice. With her guidance, your body gradually becomes stronger and more flexible, and you feel better as a result.

And, when have you ever done Downward Dog to a Mick Jagger or Lady Gaga tune? Marci’s classes teach serious yoga techniques while always keeping an element of fun. The music—from soothing yoga melodies to Aretha Franklin, Ram Dass, and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young—creates a memorable, uplifting experience.

Marci helps you stretch, move, laugh, and even sometimes sing while holding a plank pose! The class, her guidance, and the friendships I’ve made along the way are simply wonderful. I’m so grateful my sister inspired me to take the class. Since then, I’ve also joined her Somatic Therapeutic Yoga and Zumba Circl Mobility classes, which always leave me smiling and full of joy.
When I first signed up for Marci’s classes, I never imagined that in addition to becoming stronger and more flexible, I would develop meaningful friendships and a deep sense of gratitude for this addition to my life.

Marci always ends class with a poignant, relevant, and inspiring poem, leaving you feeling renewed—and, yes, mystically elevated.
